Grocery delivery, curbside pickup attractive options during coronavirus pandemic
Andrea Johnson/MDN Marketplace Foods has signs designating the areas for curbside pickup outside its 20th Avenue Southwest location. The stores also offer home delivery for a fee.
With coronavirus a concern for customers, grocery delivery or curbside pickup offered by some area stores can be an attractive option.
Zac Miller, senior store director of the west region at North Hill Marketplace Foods in Minot, said grocery delivery is available through Marketplacefoods.com. Customers can order online and arrange for items to be delivered to the customer’s residence. The items will be taken to the customer’s front step at the pre-arranged time, the delivery person will knock on the door and then leave. Miller said the current fees for delivery are $12.95 for an order $50 or less and $7.95 per order for orders over $50.
Curbside delivery is also available at the Marketplace Foods located at 20th Avenue SW and at the North Hill Marketplace Foods.
Miller said store hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the time being and the store has set aside 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. as a time for people at high risk of complications of the coronavirus and medical personnel and first responders to shop.
The store is also working with its suppliers to increase the volume of items that have been in high demand. They have pulled limits on purchases of milk and bread.
The store had imposed limits on purchases of ground beef, toilet paper, eggs, and water and other items but those items should be back in stock soon, said Miller.
Cashwise Foods in Minot also offers curbside pickup, according to its website at shop.cashwise.com, though it notes that the current high demands means that the store might not have all requested items in stock and might not have all items ready to meet a scheduled pickup time. Customers are recommended to call the store before they leave home to verify that their grocery orders are ready.
Both Target and Walmart have also offered curbside pickup, but the web sites for both stores note that high demand might affect what is available and the times for pickup.
