Brandon Chandler charged with intent to deliver methamphetamine

Brandon Lamont Chandler, 32, Bismarck, is charged in district court in Minot with Class B felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, Class C felony possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor attempted possession of a Schedule I hallucinogenic, and Class A misdemeanor driving with a suspended driver’s license, a fourth or subsequent offense within five years.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, police received a report at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday that Chandler was in a vehicle that had been parked at the Holiday gas station since 7 a.m. Someone had observed drug paraphernalia inside Chandler’s vehicle and said his body was jerking. The caller said that Chandler had left and gone to the McDonald’s on 31st Avenue SW.

The silver Impreza that Chandler was driving was later located parked at the Staybridge Inn. An officer stopped Chandler, ran a check and discovered he had a suspended license. The vehicle does not belong to Chandler, but Chandler told police that the vehicle’s owner knew he was in possession of it. Chandler was standing on the sidewalk with a bag of food from McDonald’s. He was arrested and searched. The search of his person turned up a black pouch hidden under his sweatshirt that contained 25.6 grams of methamphetamine in a clear plastic bag, two other bags with drug residue, a scale with drug residue, a needle and two pipe cleaners. Chandler has a prior conviction for drug dealing. According to the affidavit, Chandler admitted to snorting meth about seven hours before he was arrested.

Inside the vehicle, the officer found a backpack containing several smoking devices containing drug residue, 2.7 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and other bags. Police obtained a search warrant for a safe, which contained three more plastic bags with suspected meth residue, calibration weights for a scale, and 9 mm ammunition.
