The Ward County 4-H Junior and Senior Hippology teams traveled in different directions to compete on Feb. 1.

The Senior Hippology and Quiz Bowl team went to the Black Hills Stock Show in Rapid City, S.D. The Junior Hippology team went to the Burleigh County Hippology Contest in Bismarck.

Hippology is divided into four categories: horse judging, written test, team problem, and stations; with age divisions split into Junior (ages 8 to 10), Intermediate (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18).

Horse Quiz Bowl has only two age groups, Junior (ages 8 to 13) and Senior (14 to 18). Youth are quizzed on any subject pertaining to horses; whoever buzzes in with the correct answer receives points for the team.

At the Black Hills Stock Show Contest, the Ward County Senior Hippology team included Haley Buck, Minot, Emily Fannik, Max, and Anne Schauer, Carpio. The team of Buck, Fannik and A. Schauer won the Hippology contest. Individually, A. Schauer placed second. In Quiz Bowl, the same team of Buck, Fannik and A. Schauer placed second.

At the Burleigh County Hippology Contest, the Ward County Junior Hippology team included Bailey Bloms, Burlington, Nadia and Sadie Lemer, Berthold, and Hailey Schauer, Carpio. The team of Bloms, N. Lemer, S. Lemer and H. Schauer placed second.
