Brandon Galonek, 21, will go to trial April 13 on a Class A felony gross sexual impositon charge before North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson, court records show.

Galonek has been accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl on June 27, 2018, when he was 19.

Mattson had previously rejected a proposed plea deal for Galonek that would have called for him to be sentenced to 10 years in prison, with five years suspended, and five years of probation and to register as a sex offender. A pre-sentence investigation deemed Galonek at above average to high risk to reoffend, according to statements made in court.

Past lawyers for Galonek have noted that he has a low IQ and a developmental disability. Galonek has told the judge he cannot read.
