Annual Minot Vietnam Veterans Celebration set for March 29

Plans are being made for the ninth annual Vietnam Veterans Celebration in Minot.

Hosted by the Minot Vet Center, the event is set for Sunday, March 29, from 1-3 p.m., with a program starting at 1:15 p.m., in the Grand Hotel at 1505 N. Broadway.

March 29 also is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, a U.S. holiday observed annually on this day. The day recognizes veterans who served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. The day was made official by President Trump through the “Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017. Americans are encouraged to display the U.S. flag in honor of Vietnam veterans on that day, according to Vietnam Veterans Day information.

Paul Stroklund, Minot, will be speaker at the Minot program. Louis “Mac” MacLeod, Minot, will serve as emcee and the Minot Veterans of Foreign Wars will post the colors.

The Minot American Legion will conduct a flag retiring or flag folding ceremony, depending on the weather.

Food and drinks, first-come, first-served, will be provided by donations from Minot businesses.

The event is open to everyone. Last year about 300 Vietnam veterans, family members and community people attended the event.
