Ibrahim Gouba, Minot, charged with leaving scene of injury accident
Ibrahim Gouba, 22, Minot, is accused of running into a car driven by a pregnant woman and then fleeing the scene of the accident on July 8 in Minot. He is charged with a Class A misdemeanor in district court in Minot.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the other driver was a 32-year-old woman who was four months pregnant at the time. The woman told police that she had been driving north on 3rd Street SE and was stopped in the left turn lane at the Burdick Expressway intersection. She waited several seconds and then proceeded into the intersection and her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by an east bound vehicle that ran a red light. The other car pushed her red Cadillac SUV off the roadway and into the traffic control signal post. The pregnant woman was wearing her seat belt and her air bags deployed. She complained of shoulder pain after the accident. A witness gave a statement to police and Gouba was eventually tracked down. Gouba told police he had been headed east on Burdick Expressway and was stopped in traffic at the intersection with 3rd Street SE because the truck in front of him was waiting to turn left. Gouba didn’t realize that the lights had already turned red for west and eastbound traffic once the truck in front of him had turned left. He tried to cross the intersection and struck the woman’s Cadillac SUV and then fled because he was scared.
