Williams County pipeline leak spilled more than 8,000 gallons of oil

MCGREGOR – The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality has received an estimate of the amount of oil spilled from a pipeline leak on a crude oil gathering line near McGregory on Oct. 17. The pipeline is operated by Hiland Crude.

The incident occurred about a mile northeast of McGregor in Williams County and was reported the same day. However, the initial report did not include an estimate of the amount of oil released.

An updated report provided on Nov. 12 estimates approximately 8,064 gallons of oil were released and impacted cropland.

Personnel from the N.D. Department of Environmental Quality have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
