Burlington bridge to re-open Monday

BURLINGTON – The Colton Avenue Bridge in Burlington should be re-opening Monday, according to project officials.

Contractors have been working since May on the Phase BU-1A City of Burlington Colton Avenue Bridge Replacement Project as a part of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project. Project officials anticipate the bridge will re-open midday Monday, taking vehicle and pedestrian traffic for the first time since June.

Work will continue in the area to complete the bridge replacement and Cherry Street roadway realignment. People are asked to continue to be vigilant throughout the construction area.

The entire project is expected to wrap up next spring.

The Souris River Joint Board plans to take bids this winter on a second phase of flood protection in Burlington involving dike improvements.
