MADDOCK - Two people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of N.D. Highway 19 and N.D. Highway 30, seven miles north of Maddock on Sunday. A third person in the crash had minor injuries.
Shane Weinmann, 36, Devils Lake, a passenger in a pickup, was initially taken to CHI St. Alexius in Devils Lake and later to Grand Forks. Kathy Schwanke, 56, Maddock, driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, was flown from the crash scene to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. Terry Wallace, 63, Devils Lake, driver of the pickup, was treated for injuries at the crash scene.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Wallace was driving a 1996 Chevrolet pickup west on Highway 19 and Schwanke was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion going north on Highway 30. Schwanke failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and the pickup struck the car.
