WILLISTON - Three people were seriously injured in an accident two miles north of Williston on U.S. Highway 2 at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The 23-year-old male driver, from Ray, and his passengers, a 25-year-old man from Ray and a 25-year-old man from Williston, were all injured. The driver was taken to a Williston hospital and the two passengers were airlifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot for treatment. Their names were not yet released. None were wearing seat belts.
According to the Patrol, the driver was driving south on U.S. Highway 2 when he drove off the roadway, entered the median, struck a culvert and the vehicle went airbound. The vehicle landed in the median, striking the ground with the front of the vehicle. The driver and one of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Another passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle.
The accident is still under investigation by the Highway Patrol
