Five injured in two-car crash

Five people were injured in a crash in Ward County on Thursday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Natasha Semchenko, 21, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup west on North Dakota Highway 23 from Minot to Ryder. Brittany Edgmand, 23, who had three small children in the vehicle, was driving a 2010 Nissan Armada east on Highway 23 from Parshall to Minot. Edgmand hit some snow and ice on the roadway, lost control of her vehicle, and entered the westbound lane sideways and was struck on the passenger side by Semchenko’s vehicle. Semchenko was unable to evade. Both vehicles ended up in the north ditch and were totaled in the crash.

Semchenko, Edgmand, and the three children were all taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.

Both Semchenko and Edgmand were wearing their seat belts and air bags deployed in their vehicles. All three children were properly restrained in car seats in Edgmand’s vehicle.

The accident happened at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, 10 miles west of U.S. Highway 83.
