Corey Goodman, Minot, charged with sexual assault, having sexual contact with 15-year-old girl

Corey Ray Goodman, 22, Minot, is accused of performing a sexual act on a 15-year-old girl who was not in a condition to know what she was doing.

The alleged incident took place on Feb. 2 in Ward County, according to a complaint filed in the case. Goodman would have been 21 at the time.

Goodman is charged with Class A felony gross sexual imposition in district court in Minot. In addition, he is charged with Class A misdemeanor corruption of a minor for having sexual contact with the girl in February and of providing the minor girl with alcohol, a Class A misdemeanor.

If convicted of the A felony or the A misdemeanor corruption of a minor charge, he would be required to register as a sex offender.

Ward County Deputy State’s Attorney Todd Schwarz told Judge Todd Cresap that he is personally offended by the nature of the charge and said Goodman allegedly “filled (the 15-year-old girl) full of booze and had his way with her.” He asked for a high bond of $20,000 cash or corporate surety. Goodman’s defense attorney, Philip Becher, said Goodman turned himself in, retained counsel, and has ties to the community. Cresap set bond at $15,000 cash or corporate surety, ordered Goodman to have no contact with the girl or her parents, and ordered him not to purchase any alcohol while he is out on bond.

The charges were filed against Goodman on Oct. 1 and Goodman made his initial appearance in court on Friday. Cresap set a preliminary hearing date for Nov. 14.
