Randy Rostad, Minot, charged with terrorizing

Randy Dean Rostad, 55, Minot, is accused of pointing a shotgun at a group of people and threatening to kill them during a domestic dispute on the afternoon of April 27.

Rostad is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony terrorizing.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 25 before Judge Richard Hagar.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Rostad had gotten into an argument with his ex-wife, her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend. The couple had recently divorced and the ex-wife retained the main house, while Rostad retained a shop on the property, which he had converted into a living area. The two homes were separated but shared a driveway.

Rostad was arguing with his ex-wife’s daughter. Rostad allegedly went to the shop and retrieved a shotgun, and then pointed the shotgun towards the front door of his residence, where the group was standing, and made the threat. Rostad then put down the shotgun and the daughter’s boyfriend retrieved it and took it away and the daughter called authorities. A 5-year-old child, his ex-wife’s granddaughter, and another adult male friend were present on the property in another area.
