Zachrey Zdroik, Kevin Conti, charged with conspiring to steal car

Zachrey Zdroik, 32, and Kevin Marcel Conti, 27, are charged in district court in Minot with Class B felony conspiring to steal a motor vehicle in March. Zdroik is also charged with Class B felony theft of a motor vehicle.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, a man reported that he had parked his 2017 Honda CRV, valued at $26,000, in an underground parking garage at his apartment complex the previous night and woke up the next morning to discover the vehicle had been stolen.

Police investigated and examined surveillance video from a building, where Conti had established residency but Zdroik had not.

Surveillance video showed Conti letting Zdroik into the secured building and into the secured area of the garage and later showed Conti near the stolen vehicle, which Zdroik is later seen on the video driving away.

Police spoke with a witness who identified Conti and Zdroik and told police that Zdroik operated a towing company. Conti sometimes worked for Zdroik, according to the witness.

Conti is charged with Class B felony conspiracy to commit theft of property. A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for Sept. 26 before Judge Stacy Louser. Conti is also being held at the Ward County Jail on several other charges.

A warrant has been issued for Zdroik’s arrest on the charges.
