Minot Daily News to debut Weekend Edition

Saturday, Sept. 7, marks the next chapter for Minot Daily News, as readers will experience our Weekend Edition featuring the best of Minot, Ward County and the region.

Since its first edition more than 130 years ago, Minot Daily News has been telling the story of Minot and regional communities, covering the news, society happenings and sporting events that matter most to its readers both in print and, in recent years, also online at minotdailynews.com.

This commitment to the local community also includes good stories on people you know who are doing interesting things, as well as principled leadership on local and regional issues on our editorial page.

The Weekend Edition will build on that commitment. By combining all of your favorite features from Saturday’s and Sunday’s editions into one day, and by reporting on the issues that matter the most to you, along with local content from readers through Letters to the Editor and guest columnist submissions, we will provide an edition full of news, sports and lifestyles content.

“We are very excited to showcase our Weekend Edition, as it will be filled with content that is unique and important to our readers,” said Jim Hart, publisher of Minot Daily News. “Nobody covers the news, sports and community happenings in this region better and more thoroughly than Minot Daily News, and no other entity supports local businesses as we do through effective marketing initiatives. We are excited to take this step in our history.”

From church happenings to community arts events, please help us inform our readers about the many wonderful things taking place in and around your community. Minot Daily News enjoys and benefits from reader ideas and suggestions. If you would like to contribute a story idea or suggestion, please call Michael W. Sasser, editor, at 857-1959 or email him at msasser@minotdailynews.com.

We all love our local sports teams, and the Weekend Edition will have no shortage of coverage. From game stories and pictures to online updates throughout the weekend, there will be an abundance for sports fans to consume.

The Weekend Edition also will contain all of your favorite Sunday advertising inserts and specials a day earlier, which will allow readers to better plan their weekend shopping trips.

News will continue to be updated and available on our website, minotdailynews.com. Readers looking to stay up on the latest headlines and breaking news also can sign up for our online newsletter at our website. All rates for Minot Daily News will remain the same.

Hart said he is interested in reader feedback on the new Weekend Edition – what you like and additional features you may want to see in the future. He can be reached by calling 857-1912 or via email at jhart@minotdailynews.com. “We look forward to working closely with our readers and marketing partners as Minot Daily News enters this next phase of our historic service to the community,” Hart said.
