Kevin Conti, Minot, charged with terrorizing

Kevin Marcel Conti, 27, Minot, is accused of threatening a store manager with a knife following a shoplifting incident on Feb. 17.

Conti is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony terrorizing.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Conti and a woman went into the CVS store at 1520 20th Avenue SW and staff reported that the couple were acting strangely. When Conti and the woman left the store, the theft detection sensor alarm went off. A staff member took the bag from Conti and found stolen items in the bag. Conti behaved aggressively and the staff member called for the store manager. Conti continued to behave aggressively and was confrontational with the store manager when he tried to walk Conti out of the store and get him to leave. Conti walked to the woman’s car, pulled out a knife with a 5 to 6 inch blade and held the knife up to the store manager’s face. The store manager was standing next to the store entrance. Conti told the store manager that he was not afraid of him and said “this wouldn’t be his first assault.” The store manager feared for his safety. Conti eventually stabbed the store hour sign next to the manager’s head, got into the woman’s vehicle and left the scene.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Sept. 13 before Judge Gary Lee.

Conti also has several other pending cases in district court, including possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine in July.
