Kastle Johnson, Minot, sentenced to 10 days for driving drunk, crashing car with children in vehicle

Kastle Sara Johnson, 30, Minot, was sentenced on Aug. 12 to 30 days in jail, with a requirement she serve 10 days, followed by 360 days of supervised probation for driving at a high rate of speed while drunk and crashing her vehicle with her two children in the car on July 25. She pleaded guilty to the Class A misdemeanor in district court in Minot.

Court records show that Johnson was also ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation, to attend a victim impact panel, and to pay court costs. She must also participate in the 24/7 Sobriety Program. She will be permitted to serve her jail sentence on weekends.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Johnson crashed her 2013 Hyundai Accent into a 2014 Dodge Ram as it was turning left to go onto Valley Street from U.S. Highway 2 and 52. Johnson had been driving at a high rate of speed and she smelled strongly of alcohol when officers interviewed her after the crash. Two of her children had been in the vehicle when she crashed it.
