Brandon Lowery sentenced for unauthorized use of personal identifying information

Brandon Lowery, 43, will serve about two years in prison for using the identities of three people to forge checks and open fraudulent credit card accounts in the fall of 2016.

Lowery, who had been incarcerated in Indiana on theft and escape charges until July, pleaded guilty to five Class C felonies in district court in Minot.

Judge Stacy Louser sentenced him to a total of five years in prison, with a requirement he first serve two years, and three years of supervised probation. Lowery will be given credit for 80 days already served in jail, plus 11 days off for good behavior.

Louser also ordered him to pay court costs and the $2,254 it cost the state to extradite him from Indiana. The restitution he owes the victims has yet to be determined.

Two of the victims were his ex-wife and a former stepdaughter, according to court documents. Another person was the third victim.

All of the sentences on the charges are concurrent. Other charges against Lowery were dismissed, including Class C felony theft of property and two Class A misdemeanor counts of forgery, under the terms of a plea deal.
