Basement fire damages home in southeast Minot

Minot Fire Department crews were called to 617 14th St. SE around 8:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a basement fire.

The first arriving fire crews battled heavy smoke coming from the home and found the fire originating in the basement. A crew made its way into the basement to extinguish the fire while another crew searched the building for occupants.

The home was vacant with the exception of a dog that was found deceased. With the fire extinguished, fire crews ventilated the house and searched for any other signs of fire in the structure.

The City of Minot fire marshal is investigating.
