Construction began on Thursday on a project on U.S. Highway 83 from Minot to Minot Air Force Base, according to a North Dakota Department of Transportation news release. The project consists of resurfacing work on the roadway along with restriping.

During construction one lane will be closed at a time as work takes place and speeds will be reduced through the work zone. A width restriction of 12 feet will be in place when lane reductions are in effect.

The majority of the project is expected to be completed in about two weeks with striping work taking place in early August.

The Transportation Department reminds motorists to slow down, follow traffic control signage and use caution throughout the work zone.
