Alex Peltier, Minot, sentenced for breaking into coin-operated machines at different locations
Alex Roy Peltier, 25, Minot, will serve about two years in prison for breaking into coin-operated machines at different locations in January and early February.
Court records show that he pleaded guilty on Thursday in district court in Minot to one count of Class C felony criminal mischief and four counts of Class A misdemeanor criminal mischief.
For the C felony, Peltier was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but two years suspended, and three years of supervised probation. He must also pay court costs of $525. Restitution in the case is reserved for 90 days.
For each A misdemeanor, he was sentenced to 360 days in jail and given credit for 77 days served.
The sentences are concurrent.
Peltier broke into the laundry room of a northwest Minot apartment building on Jan. 4 and broke into the soap dispensing machines and the dryer and stole coins. The cost of repairs was estimated at $3,085. On Jan. 5, he broke into arcade machines at Comfort Suites and caused damage of more than $100 to the machines. On Jan. 12, he broke into the arcade machines at North Hill Bowl and caused more than $100 in damage. On Feb. 3, he broke into the arcade machines at Splashdown and stole money. Cost of the repairs also was more than $100.
In March, in a separate case, Peltier pleaded guilty to burglarizing the Suds and Sun Laundromat on Nov. 21. He was sentenced on March 3 to year and a day in prison, all suspended but the 82 days he had already served.
