Jordan Barnes, Minot, sentenced for possession of stolen firearm

Jordan Michael Barnes, 37, Minot, was sentenced to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the seven days he has already served, and 18 months supervised probation on Monday for possession of a stolen .38 Smith and Wesson revolver in July 2015. The firearm was stolen during a home burglary.

Barnes also pleaded guilty to a Class B misdemeanor for possession of a Dewalt 18 volt battery pack valued at $100 that belonged to Mowbray and Sons and a Class B misdemeanor for possession of methamphetamine in July 2015. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, all suspended but seven days, for the misdemeanor theft. The sentence is concurrent with the sentence for the C felony charge for possession of the stolen firearm. He received a $175 fine for the B misdemeanor. If Barnes successfully completes probation, the C felony will be reduced to an A misdemeanor. Barnes has also been ordered to stay away from victims in the cases. He also must pay $525 in court costs for the C felony.
