Ashley Allen, Minot, receives deferred sentence, unsupervised probation for child neglect

Ashley Marie Allen, 33, Minot, received a deferred imposition of sentence for 360 days on a Class C felony child neglect charge on Thursday in district court in Minot.

Court records show that Judge Gary Lee ordered Allen to take a parenting class and to pay $1,100 in court costs and to serve 360 days unsupervised probation. If she complies with all terms and conditions, the charge will be dismissed.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Allen was driving drunk on Jan. 21 near Berthold with two children, a 9-year-old and a 1-year-old, unbuckled in the car.

Allen reportedly crossed over into the wrong lane, at one point left the roadway and got stuck and failed to use her turn signal. She also behaved in a disorderly manner when she was arrested and started yelling at the children’s grandmother when she arrived to pick up the children. Allen’s behavior further disturbed the children, according to the affidavit.
