Aaron Youngbird charged with August robbery at Guest Lodge

Aaron Lee Youngbird, 28, is charged with Class B felony robbery and Class B felony conspiracy to commit robbery in a reported attack on a man at the Guest Lodge in Minot on Aug. 17.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, a woman invited the alleged victim to her room at the Guest Lodge because they had not seen each other for awhile. When he arrived at the Guest Lodge, he noticed that the back door to the building was held open with a brick. He went in through the back door and to the woman’s room. He told police that the woman backed up as if to draw him into the room and when he got past the bathroom, Youngbird attacked him and demanded his wallet. Youngbird came at the man from behind and wrapped his arm around his lower jaw and squeezed. The alleged male victim fell to his knees and Youngbird continued to hit him on the head and back. Youngbird allegedly told the other man he had attacked him because the alleged victim called the police and said Youngbird had stolen his car.

Youngbird allegedly stole the other man’s wallet and broke his lower dentures. The alleged male victim had lacerations on his head, face, back, both knees and left forearm and right ankle.

The complaint was not filed against Youngbird until Jan. 11. He made an initial appearance on the charge on Friday in front of Judge Doug Mattson. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 11.
