Jennifer Waldner, Minot, charged with child abuse

Jennifer Anne Waldner, 33, Minot, is charged with Class C felony child abuse in district court in Minot.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Waldner roughly grabbed a young girl by the arm on Monday evening. The girl had pain in her upper right arm and said it hurt when she tried to raise her arm above her head. The girl told police that Waldner had also pulled her by the arm a few weeks before. Waldner told police that she and the girl had had an argument and she had put her hands on the girl, but denied that she caused the girl any pain.

North Central District Court Judge Stacy Louser set bond at $5,000 cash or corporate surety, ordered Waldner to have no contact with the girl or with the girl’s father unless it is through their respective divorce attorneys, and ordered Waldner to participate in the 24/7 Sobriety Program and undergo twice daily alcohol testing. Alcohol was allegedly a contributing factor to Waldner’s behavior.

Waldner, who was crying throughout her initial appearance in court, told the judge she will apply for a court-appointed defense attorney and looks forward to fighting the charge in court.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for April 4 before Louser.
