Jarreau Seaphus, Minot, sentenced to jail for aggravated assault

Jarreau Alvin Seaphus, 37, Minot, was sentenced last week to one year in jail, all suspended but 30 days, and three years of supervised probation for throwing his wife to the floor in July, grabbing her by the neck, striking her on the side of her face during a domestic dispute and leaving her with a fractured nose and a ruptured eardrum.

Seaphus pleaded guilty to the Class C felony aggravated assault – domestic violence charge in district court in Minot.

Judge Todd Cresap also ordered Seaphus to complete a course for domestic violence offenders and to pay $1,100 in court costs. Restitution in the case is reserved for 90 days.

Seaphus will be permitted work release while he is serving the jail sentence.
