Rock Vanzandt, Minot, sentenced for criminal trespass
Rock Bennett Vanzandt, 55, Minot, was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison, all suspended but the 49 days he already served, and two years of supervised probation for trespassing at his girlfriend’s house on April 17.
Vanzandt pleaded guilty to a Class C felony in district court.
Court records show that Judge Stacy Louser also ordered Vanzandt to pay $525 in court costs. Restitution in the case has been reserved for 90 days.
His girlfriend, Crystal Amanda Johnson, 33, caught Vanzandt in the residence and fired a shot in his direction that hit him in the leg as he was leaving by the back door. Johnson had first fired a warning shot into a closet before following Vanzandt.
Vanzandt and Johnson had quarreled earlier in the evening and Vanzandt went back to the residence to retrieve his cell phone.
Johnson received a deferred imposition of sentence on Sept. 28 on a Class C felony reckless endangerment charge and a Class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance charge. Johnson was also ordered to pay $1,478.60 in court costs and restitution.
There are federal charges pending against Vanzandt, according to statements made at past court hearings.
