Jonathan Davis sentenced for animal neglect
Jonathan Hillery Davis, 38, Burlington, was ordered on Oct. 25 to complete 190 hours of community service for failing to care for dogs that were left at a property in Kenmare in November 2017. When authorities finally got permission to enter the home, two of the dogs were lying dead and a living dog was found crying and lying under trash and furniture. Davis’s estranged wife told authorities that Davis had been responsible for caring for the animals and she had left the residence several weeks before. She told authorities that yet another dog was missing.
Court records show that Davis pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor charge of animal neglect.
Judge Doug Mattson sentenced him one year unsupervised probation in addition to the community service and gave him credit for 11 days spent in jail. Mattson also ordered Davis to pay $625 in court costs.
