Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels and R.D. Offutt Company recently announced that the two North Dakota companies have teamed up.

These companies may have started in different eras, but both began with similar entrepreneurial vision and were built on the same integrity-based principles.

The pretzel company was started in Velva in 2012 by founder Dorothy “Dot” Henke. It has manufacturing locations in North Dakota, Arizona and Kansas and is a proud member of the Pride of Dakota brand, which is prominently featured on all its products.

Dot Henke said, “I began experimenting with a seasoned pretzel recipe to fit the tastes of my husband, Randy, and myself. For Christmas 2011, we gifted these ‘Dot’s Pretzels’ to friends and family and the response was overwhelming! I started baking the pretzels in my kitchen at home, that quickly grew to building our flagship plant in Velva. We knew we had created something special after attending the Pride of Dakota show held in Williston in May 2012. Dot’s Pretzels foundation was built on relationships; the culture was built on putting the consumer first. The employees are like family to us, each employee plays an important role in our current and our future success. Dot’s wouldn’t be where it is today without them. I’m happy to say that those principles will continue moving forward.”

Since those early days, Dot’s Pretzels has consistently been gaining market share in the pretzel snack food category, especially in the upper Midwest. You can find Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels in grocery stores, hardware stores, convenience stores, farm stores, sporting goods stores, etc.

Dwight Pflipsen, COO and co-owner of Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels, said, “Dot’s husband, Randy, and I grew up playing baseball together in North Dakota. I left North Dakota and spent my career in manufacturing. In 2017 I came aboard with Dot’s to help with the explosive growth and help organize the infrastructure of the organization. For Dot’s, its operations and its relationships with its customers and vendors will not change through this partnership, although it will be able to utilize R.D. Offutt Company’s corporate resources.
