Alexander man dies in three-vehicle collision

WILLISTON – An Alexander man died in a three-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 85, four miles south of Williston, on Monday.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Terry Lynn, driving a 2015 GMC pickup, James Whitcomb, 50, Williston, driving a 2015 Freightliner, and Monte Wissel, 40, Williston, driving a 2015 Peterbilt truck, were going north on the highway. The pickup and Peterbilt were slowing down while traffic was merging for construction ahead. The Freightliner ran in the back of the pickup and pushed it up on the back of the Peterbilt’s trailer. The Freightliner came to rest on top of the pickup on the Peterbilt’s trailer.

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. Whitcomb was injured. Wissel was not injured.
