Country gospel music is back at the Peace Gardens again this year on Aug. 19 with the 14th annual International Country Gospel Music Festival. It is truly an international gospel music festival with a group coming from as far away as the Edmonton Alberta area and and as close as Valley City.
Nancy Unsworth and her band come from St. Albert, Alberta. She is a Canadian, a Nashville recording artist and a member of several international music associations. She writes some of her own songs as well as singing and doing motivational speaking. Unsworth is just now coming back from Germany where they have been presenting the gospel in music and testimony. She has also ministered in Africa, other countries in Europe, Canada and the US.
Greg Hagar is from the Valley City area. A Nashville-produced musician, he has recorded and released seven CD's of 100% original music of which two of the albums are of country gospel that bring the "Good News" to song. He has done world wide tours and sells music in over a dozen countries.
Living Waters is a young group that come from the Austin Manitoba area. The group started in 2013 and added others in 2014. They enjoy sharing their music and playing for festivals and music nights in Canada. They performed for the festival in 2016.
Hills and Plains Country Gospel is the local group that sponsors the festival. The present members are Jerry Olson, Tina Bullinger, and Don Boardman. When they play at the Gospel Music Festival they invite Sharon Hubbard from Storthoaks SK to play with them to make it truly an international group.
The Redding Family comes from rural Northwood. Paul and Amy Redding have seven children and all of them are musically talented. They have been active in the speaking and music ministry for the last 15 years. The family has done numerous CD recordings. Paul Redding is also a pastor in the Northwood Community Bible Church and will be giving the message at the church service at 10:30 a.m. in the Burdick Center.
