Devils Lake man dies after bicycle-car crash

DEVILS LAKE – A Devils Lake man has died after the motorized bicycle he was riding crashed into a car at an intersection in Devils Lake earlier last week.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Wade Vetter, 53, died Saturday in a Minot hospital from injuries sustained in the July 9 accident in Devils Lake.

Vetter, riding a bicycle with a gas motor attached, crashed into a car on U.S. Highway 2 and 5th Avenue SE in the city of Devils Lake. According to a news release, the Patrol said Vetter disregarded the red light and ran directly into the driver’s side of the vehicle in the intersection. He was ejected off the bicycle. He was not wearing a helmet. He was first taken to a Devils Lake hospital and then to a Minot hospital.
