Herberger’s to close Minot store

Kim Fundingsland/MDN A big box retailer will be closing in Minot’s Dakota Square Mall. Bon-Ton Stores, the parent company of Herberger’s, underwent a bankruptcy sale Tuesday. The sale was followed by the announcement that 200 stores under the Bon-Ton label would be closing nationwide, including all four Herberger’s locations in North Dakota – Minot, Bismarck, Fargo and Dickinson. Minot’s Herberger’s store remains open and operating. No details regarding its closure have been announced. Herberger’s opened their Minot store in 1980. CBL Properties, owners of the Dakota Square Mall and Kirkwood Mall in Bismarck, released a statement saying: “We have been monitoring this situation closely and have been working on contingency plans for each center impacted.” Bon-Ton owns and operates 254 stores in 23 states, including Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman and Younkers.
