State files to revoke probation of Chelsea Erie

The state has filed to revoke the probation of a 24-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to Class C felony child neglect after leaving her 3-year and 5-year-old children unattended in a running vehicle parked outside a Minot bar in December 2015.

Chelsea Ann Erie had received a deferred imposition of sentence for two years in March 2016. She was also ordered to cooperate with Social Services, pay court costs and work.

In a petition to revoke her probation, her probation officer notes that Erie pleaded guilty on Jan. 4 in Minot Municipal Court to leaving the scene of a property damage accident. The accident occurred on Sept. 17, 2017.

Erie has also allegedly failed to pay fines and court supervision fees. Erie was ordered to appear at an order to show cause hearing in district court in Minot on Feb. 15.

Erie’s then boyfriend, Daniel Dumas, pleaded guilty to child neglect in May 16 for the same incident and also received a deferred imposition of sentence and supervised probation.

The pair were drinking and gambling inside a Minot bar on Dec. 28, 2015 while Erie’s 5-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were outside in Dumas’ running car. The temperature outside was 5 degrees at the time.
