Bootys will be shakin across 4 Bears Casino and Lodge as music icons and Grammy Award winning artists KC and the Sunshine Band take the stage Saturday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m.

Throughout the festive evening, “The Founders Of The Dance Revolution” look forward to performing their smash hits “That’s The Way I Like It,” “Shake Your Booty,” “Keep It Comin’ Love” and “Get Down Tonight.”

Featuring a 15-piece band that includes dancers, musicians and backup singers, KC and the Sunshine Band looks forward to giving concertgoers the “Sunshine experience.”

Over the span of 44 years, audiences around the world continue to sing along to timeless classics like “I’m Your Boogie Man,” “Give It Up,” “Please Don’t Go” and “Boogie Shoes.”

For founder, musician and band leader Harry Wayne Casey, providing a sound that defined an era along with a message that continues to grow stronger with each generation, is an empowering feeling he hopes to share with concertgoers as they sing along to their favorite songs.

“The messages of the music are positive,” Casey said. “It’s about being in love, liking what you love and loving what you like. ‘Shake Your Booty’ is a song about having confidence in who you are and realizing that it’s okay to enjoy life and shake your booty. ‘I’m Your Boogie Man’ was written about the deejays who help us get through the days and ‘Keep It Comin’ Love’ is about keeping love coming. It’s important to keep love in our lives and I believe love is more important than anything.”

Throughout the Billboard Hot 100 hit “I’m Your Boogie Man,” KC and the Sunshine Band delivers an exquisite array of booty shakin’ funk paired with mesmerizing melodies and infectious harmony.

From start to finish, listeners are immersed with a pleasurable fusion of Latin jazz and disco soul, which conjures an elaborate arrangement of rhythm guitars, pulsating percussion and melodious horns.

While the dancers and musicians of the Sunshine Band sway to their boogie sensation, Casey strikes harmonious scales and arpeggios on the piano before singing the sensual classic “I’m Your Boogie Man.”

When asked to describe the unique elements that define the “Sunshine sound,” Casey revealed that his craft is inspired by a love for humanity and a fiery passion for uptempo music.

“The Sunshine sound is a combination of rhythms and horns,” Casey said. “Not that horns have never been on a record – groups like Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago and older R&B bands always had horns with them. I would say the energy of the sunshine sound came from junkanoo music, the music of the Caribbean. I’ve never been around a music that sounds so uplifting. I wanted to share this music with the world.”

Around the world, Casey is affectionately known as “The founder of the dance revolution.”

Upon their arrival in 1973, KC and the Sunshine Band earned a stellar reputation as a unifying force during a divisive period in American history.

As political turmoil, social strife and rising unemployment gripped the country, the junkanoo inspired band from Hialeah, Fla., helped to give birth to a dance revolution.

Diverse musically, racially and ethnically, KC and the Sunshine Band proved to be an electrifying example of harmony and brilliant musicality.

In their breakthrough hits “Blow Your Whistle” and “Sound Your Funky Horn,” the Grammy Award winning band introduced listeners to their signature “Sunshine sound” that included lyrics encouraging love, unity and optimism to beat of funky dance grooves and Latin jazz.

Today, KC and the Sunshine Band are an American treasure and a global ambassador for peace, love and harmony, during the current conflicts and turmoil impacting a new generation of listeners.

“Music was created to bring people together,” Casey said. “I’m glad to see that I and the music are still able to do what was intended after all these years. It feels good to bring joy to people across the globe, this is something I love to do and I’m glad I’m able to continue to do this. ”
