70th reunion celebrated this week

Minot high schools, class of 1947, met on Wednesday, Aug. 16 to celebrate a rare 70th reunion.

Donna Baker, who planned the event, said that the group had decided the 60th reunion would be their last, but minds were changed and so she planned the 70th.

Baker said there were a little over 207 graduates that year, a number that was much larger than the preceeding years, since World War II had ended and sent so many Americans back home.

Of those remaining from the class, 32 were anticipated to show up for the event in Minot. The group consisted of many people from around North Dakota, a couple from Seattle, and possibly some from Minneapolis.

“It’s not just a bunch of Minot people,” Baker joked.

The group last met around eight years go to celebrate a lot of them turning 80 years old.
