U.S. Marshals Service nabs attempted homicide suspect
Deshon Thomas, 31, from California, is accused of attempted homicide in California and is being held at the Ward County Jail on $1 million bail.
Thomas is accused of being part of a shooting incident in California. A probable cause arrest warrant was issued in Superior Court of California in San Bernardino County on Nov. 24 charging him with attempted homicide, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Thomas was taken into custody Thursday evening without incident at a residence located at 1115 Soo Street in Minot. The U.S. Marshals Service’s Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Los Angeles requested assistance from Deputy U.S. Marshals in Minot when their investigation revealed he might be in Minot. They conducted surveillance at the residence and a man matching Thomas’s description entered the residence. Deputy Marshals approached the residence along with officers from the Minot Police Department, Ward County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, U.S. Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigation. Officers knocked on the door and announced their presence. A man came to the door and confirmed Thomas was inside. Officers at the door saw Thomas in the house and ordered him to the floor. Thomas was arrested at 10:45 p.m.
Authorities smelled marijuana in the house, according to the press release, and received consent to search the residence. They say they seized drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. Cordai Johnson, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Tolandra Sheliece Johnson, 20, was arrested on an outstanding Minot Municipal Court warrant charging her with failure to pay unpaid court fines.
