Brine and oil spill impacts creek near Bowbells
BOWBELLS A brine and crude oil release has occurred abut 10 miles southwest of Bowbells, the North Dakota Department of Health reported Friday.
Initial data from the reporting company, OXY USA Inc., said about 2,520 gallons of brine, or oil-field produced water, and 210 gallons of oil were spilled and impacted a tributary of Stony Creek. The impacted water has been diked to prevent further runoff downstream.
Health Department inspectors were on scene Friday to monitor clean up.
