Patricia Lynne Messner

Patricia Lynne Messner, 66, Minot, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Patricia Lynne Nygaard was born Sept. 3, 1946, the daughter of Clarence and Lila (Tenderholt) Nygaard, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1964. Patt furthered her education by attending Minot State Business College.

Patt was united in marriage to Ted Messner on Oct. 5, 1973, at the Minot Air Force Base. They made their home in Minot, where she worked for a time at Schatz Truck Stop and was also a daycare provider in Merva Nordin’s home. Patt was most recently employed at Edgewood Vista, as a CNA in the Memory Care Unit before health issues forced her into retirement a few years ago.

Patt was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Sons of Norway, Christian Women’s Association and also the Air Force Retirees. She also volunteered every year at the Norsk Hostfest.

She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, friends, work, crocheting and making quilts for her grandkids.

Surviving family includes: husband of 39 years, Ted, Minot; daughters, Kelli (Kevin) Reiter, Minot, Karen Gorney, Minot; son, Ryan Messner, Minot; grandchildren, Makenzie (Jacob) Feil, Mason Reiter, Madison Reiter, Kjiesta Gorney, Kaplyn Gorney, Karter Gorney, Caitlyn Messner; father of Kjiesta, Kaplyn and Karter, Gary Gorney, Minot; sisters, Harriet Nygaard, Mary Legge, Barbara Knutson, all of Jamestown; brother-in-law, Bill Messner, Jamestown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patt was preceded in death by her parents and Ted’s parents; brother, Larry Nygaard; brother-in-law, Greg Legge; nephews, Lonty Knutson and Steve Nygaard; and great-grandson, Feil.

Funeral: Monday, May 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: will take place at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sanborn.

Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Sunday at 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to American Cancer Society.
