Allen Freelander is turning 100 years on Dec. 6. He moved to Minot after being discharged from the Army in December 1945. Allen married Deraine Souther in April 1946 and they have been married for 68 years. They resided in Minot until 2007 when they moved to West Fargo to be closer to some of their children. Allen worked for Nash Finch Co. from 1946 until retiring in 1981. He and his wife, Deraine, have four children: Cher Linnertz, of Arizona, Arnold Freelander, of Virginia, Gail Snead and Lori Shoman, both of West Fargo. In addition to their four children, they have 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
An open house to honor Allen will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Best Western Kelly Inn and Suites in Fargo.
