POEM Studio is pairing with the Minot Area Flea Market for the Flippin’ Flea Market event this weekend.

With a $500 prize at stake to the winning team, contestants will scour the Minot Flea Market on Saturday to purchase items from local vendors to bring back to the POEM Studio’s Maker Space Workshop to ‘Upcycle’ their items on Sunday. Their creations will be judged by a panel for a first prize award of $500 cash, a second prize award of $500 in Studio Art gift certificates or a third prize award of Poem’s Maker Space classes.

Master Carpenter Chase Lindberg of Lofty Woodworks will be on hand to help contestants chose their item and offer suggestions and professional instruction on how competitors can best improve their creations.

The entire event will be filmed by Gina Footh of Lostwood Media to be broadcast on local public access channels throughout the local regional area.

‘People of Earth Matter’ (POEM) Studio is a division of Mandaree Enterprises and believes that supporting local artist contributes to a vibrant community and has been servicing the community as a local ‘Maker Space’ providing hands-on training with new technology like 3D printers, industrial laser cutters, CNC machines, and a well-equipped wood and metal shop.
