Winterfest at Cross Ranch

Cross Ranch State Park will be hosting a winter celebration for all ages on Saturday, Feb. 13. Park staff will provide various outdoor activities from 2-7 p.m., including a scavenger hunt, guided hike, and horse-drawn wagon rides. Soup and beverages will be served.

“In addition to the family-friendly winter activities, we are pleased to have Johnathan Campbell, our artist in residence, offering photography presentations during the festival this year,” shared Eric Lang, park manager. Campbell will lead a guided nature photography hike and night photography presentation. Visitors are asked to bring their own cameras.

Cross Ranch State Park, which is located nine miles south of Washburn, has an extensive year-round trail system and access to a 5,000-acre nature preserve. Winterfest attendees may find themselves traveling back in time, catching a glimpse of the landscape as it appeared to Native Americans inhabiting the area hundreds of years ago, or hearing the echoes of the Lewis and Clark Expedition making its way to the Pacific coast along the Missouri River. The park charges a $7 vehicle entrance fee unless a state park annual permit is displayed. Refer to the Cross Ranch State Park Facebook page or call the park at 794-3731 for schedule of events. Event activities are subject to change depending on weather and COVID-19 risk levels. The Department would like to remind visitors to follow the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing and personal hygiene while visiting the park.
