Outdoors LIFE — Meanwhile … 36 years later

Submitted Photo Finally! Arlan Wilhelm, 76, Surrey, harvested a cow moose during opening weekend of the current season. Wilhelm says he had been applying for a once-in-a-lifetime moose tag for a long time. “This was my 36th year. It was hit and miss a little bit as I’d get disgusted and wait a year or so and try again,” said Wilhelm. Wilhelm said he applied for a bull moose license most of those years before switching to a preference for cow moose. “I figured I was getting too old to wait any longer,” remarked Wilhelm. “When I got this one and got over the adrenaline rush and walked up to it. It was huge!” Wilhelm took his moose Oct. 11 while hunting north of Ray.
