Dakota Handcrafters: Emily Rae Higbee

Emily Rae Higbee

At a young age Emily Rae Higbee, who goes by her middle name Rae, was inspired by her grandmother to begin baking. She continues to be inspired by her favorite celebrity chef, Alton Brown.

Higbee is a home baker in Minot.

“I call my little business The Witch’s Kitchen. I’ve been baking for a while now and love filling the orders for the lovely people around here,” she said.

“My specialty handcraft is delicious baked goods, treats, and sweets,” she added.

Higbee said she’s been doing this type of work seriously for about two years.

She said she offers her products for sale and people can see her work on her Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thewitcheskitchenminot/.

She said people can custom order any baked goods they would like through her Facebook page or call her at 760-668-9779.

Higbee said she’s not quite to the point yet of teaching others her handcraft.

She said she’s currently finishing her bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources through Oregon State University.

“In the meantime, I bake for my fellow Minot citizens and clean homes in the area. I am proud to say my husband is in the Air Force and we are happy dog-parents to our yellow lab, Drax,” Higbee said.
