Dakota Handcrafters: Kathleen Kittleson
Current Hometown: Bottineau
How would you describe your specialty handcraft?
Crocheting
What or who inspired you to become involved in it?
I picked up a book on how to crochet in the ’70s. My neighbor lady asked me to finish a cape her mother had started. I was able to figure out the directions and finish it for her. I have been crocheting since.
How long have you been doing this type of work?
About 45 years.
Do you do it for your own pleasure or offer it for sale?
I do it for my own pleasure and for gifts for family and friends.
Is your handcraft available for sale and if so, where?
I have sold some dish cloths but most is done for gifts for family and friends.
Have you taught others your handcraft and if so, would you be willing to teach it to others?
I would love to get together with others that crochet to learn more and help others to learn the craft.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am semi-retired. Do homecares for the elderly. I raise chickens and do crocheting.
