GARRISON - The North Dakota Firefighter's Museum Hall of Fame honors those who not only serve the community, but have additionally contributed to the field on a larger scale.

Inductees display leadership and have amassed accomplishments that are widely recognized and respected by the North Dakotan Fire Service, according to the North Dakota Firefighter's Museum Hall of Fame.

Beginning in 2006, the Firefighter's Museum opened to provide recognition to those who have contributed at the local and state level in public safety, education or welfare, according to Hall of Fame information. The museum is not restricted to retired or past personnel; active firefighters who have demonstrated the qualities that the committee looks for, are eligible to be nominated and inducted.

Departments and community members can nominate a person by mail. The deadline to submit someone for the hall of fame is June 30, and inductees are revealed in September.

This year's ceremony is scheduled for Oct 10 from 4:40-6 p.m., at the Garrison Fire Hall in Garrison. Charles Fortney from Bismarck, Jim Hamley from Belcourt and Philip Hoffman from Medina are all set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the 2026 ceremony.
