FARGO — Daryl Lies of Douglas was reappointed North Dakota Farm Bureau president for a two-year term at the organization’s 81st annual meeting in Fargo. Lies was elected as the NDFB District 6 director in 2013 and as NDFB president in 2015. Lies and his wife, Kim, operate a diversified farm with an emphasis in show animals. Their ventures include hogs, sheep and goats, and Lies also is associated with Full Flavor Farms and Daryl’s Racing Pigs. In addition, he hosts a radio show. Cattle futures crunched On Wednesday January Feeder cattle futures posted a new low for the move sinking to $227.425/cwt before rallying back and closing positive on the day at $232.775/cwt. A spike lower with a higher close like this can lead one to think a short-term bullish development, in an otherwise bearish market, is in the works where a nearby low has now been established. For those not familiar with the delivery process, when a futures contract nears expiration it goes into the delivery period and first notice day is when the first deliveries can appear. Grants awarded to three small businesses

TIOGA – Three small businesses received grants Oct. 17 as part of the REV pitch competition conducted by The Bank of Tioga in partnership with the Tioga Area Economic Development Corp. Fifteen applications were received in this year’s small business pitch competition. GameDay Media of Tioga received $6,500 to expand its technology for broadcasts of local and regional events. Grow Crosby LLC, which operates the ByPass Restaurant & Lounge in Crosby, received $4,500 to build a website and the Cleaning Genie in Tioga received $4,000 to add commercial window cleaning to its services.
