Minot International Airport is celebrating the “second anniversary” of the opening of its terminal building today. The first flight from the new terminal occurred on Feb. 29, 2016.

The airport will mark the occasion with balloons and will have cookies for travelers and visitors.

The transition from the former terminal came after the last incoming flight landed just before sundown on Feb. 28. The transition team moved operations, including Transportation Safety Administration equipment, and towed the plane to the new terminal during the night. The new terminal opened with a ribbon cutting just before sunrise and the first scheduled departure at 5 a.m. on Feb. 29.
