SCORE plans workshop for starting small business
The SCORE of West-Central North Dakota will be holding a workshop for local entrepreneurs looking to get the ball rolling on a small business. To be held on Sept. 28 in the Slaaten Business Center on the third floor Minot State University’s Old Main building, attendees will be given an opportunity to learn from SCORE’s volunteer mentors.
Topics explored include writing a business plan, applying for small business loans, building budgets, and a Q&A session with Marlys Magnuson, CPA U.S. Bank Lenders and Mary Beth Votava the center director of the North Dakota Small Business Development Center. The event can be attended in person for a $10 fee, and pre-registration is required. To pre-register or for more information, contact nancy.rakness@scorevolunteer.org.
SCORE is funded in part by grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration, and works to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience for the next generation of entrepreneurs and employers. West-Central North Dakota’s SCORE has announced their new Chapter Chair for 2023 will be Nanc Heskin-Rakness, and that has grown to serve the communities of Bismarck, Mandan, Minot, Jamestown and Dickinson.
“I am proud to be a part of this association because of the great people who are now involved across the state. SCORE is a wonderful place to be right now with so many individuals reaching out to begin writing their business plans and working through cash flow,” Heskin-Rakness said.
The Minot SCORE office is located at 1925 South Broadway. To join SCORE go to www.score.org to review open volunteer positions.
