Target begins store upgrade

Target Corp. is upgrading its store at Dakota Square Mall.

Target hasn’t announced details yet but has stated it is pursuing a modernized design at its stores, including the store in Minot.

“Target is committed to investing in the guest experience with the next generation of store design. The reimagined stores feature modernized design elements and bring more technology and digital experiences to our stores to make shopping even easier, safer and more inspiring for our guests,” according to a Target statement.

A construction zone has been set up, and shoppers will notice some changes starting to occur. Target stated it will be releasing more information about what the renovation will entail and the construction timeline at a future date.

Target presented zoning requests to accommodate an expansion to the Minot Planning Commission last December. The Minot City Council gave final approval to the requests in January.

At that time, Target was proposing to increase building space by 25%. It proposed adding a stockroom, CVS pharmacy services, a dedicated drive-up entrance for online pick-up and an adult beverage alcove with separate internal entrance. That proposal mentioned facade and landscaping improvements and modifications to the parking lot, including improved lot lighting.

Whether any of those items remain in the final plan will be disclosed when Target releases its details later.

Target has been part of Dakota Square Mall since the mall’s opening in 1980. The city last approved site changes in 1992.

Starting at $2.99/week.
